How pages are written
Every food page starts from published research. We record each measurement with its study, table and sample size, then write the page in our own words. Every page has at least two distinct citations and at least 250 words written for that food; the site's build fails if a page falls short. AI tools help draft the text. Every number is checked against the cited table or figure before the page is published, and each measurement on a page names the table or figure it comes from.
Review
Every page shows its review status at the top and in the side panel. There are three:
- Reviewed: checked by a registered dietitian, who is named on the page with the review date.
- Not yet reviewed by a dietitian: written by the Lowmina editors from lab measurements of that food itself, and open to search engines. Only foods measured directly in a cited study can be published this way; the site's build refuses any other.
- Draft: the food was measured only as part of a wider group (such as "fresh oily fish") or not at all. These pages are hidden from search engines ("noindex") until a dietitian has reviewed them.
We are looking for a registered dietitian to review every page. Until then we say plainly which pages have not been reviewed rather than hiding the fact.
Disagreement
Published low-histamine lists often disagree. We show what each source says, including those that disagree with our rating, and mark those foods as disputed rather than hiding the conflict.
Copyright
We do not copy other organisations' food lists. Where a widely used list exists, such as SIGHI's, we link to it.
Corrections
Every food page has a link to report an error. We aim to reply within seven days and note significant corrections on the page with the date.
Money
Ratings are never paid for and never changed because of advertising or affiliate links. If we add ads or affiliate links in future, they will be labelled and kept away from the rating and the tools.
